Direct Hoist accelerates to Net Zero with solar power!

Direct Hoist is thrilled to announce the installation of a new solar panel system on our building—the latest major step in our ambition to achieve Net Zero emissions by Spring 2026.

Founder Rob Wilson notes, “This solar installation is the culmination of years of dedicated work, pushing forward our robust Net Zero strategy and supporting our policy for Construction Line Gold accreditation.”

Powering operations greenly

Our new array features 100 high-efficiency solar panels, projected to generate 51,754 kWh of clean energy annually.

  • This will produce 56.2% of our required power, significantly cutting reliance on grid electricity.

  • The remaining 43.8% will be fed back into the national grid, helping power the wider community with renewable energy.

A foundation of sustainable practices

The solar installation builds upon our strong foundation of green initiatives:

  • Building efficiency: We use LED lighting and source remaining electricity from wind and solar farms.

  • Logistics: Our fleet includes a fully electric Corsa and vans running on 100% renewable HVO fuel.

  • Sourcing & waste: We prioritise local suppliers and rigorously separate waste, weighing in all scrap for recycling.

Clean hoists, efficient sites

Our modern, electrically powered construction hoists, produce zero emissions on site. The use of these hoists inherently provides an environmental benefit: the man-hours saved in carrying materials means fewer overall days on site, reducing the associated impact of staff travel.

This continuous investment in sustainability reflects our belief that strong business practices go hand-in-hand with environmental responsibility. We are proud to be driving change for our industry and the planet.
